It is a condition of membership of the Sutherland Special Needs Toy Library Inc that:
- Application form, Terms and Condition form plus membership payment be completed and signed by all new members when joining.
- Membership subscription is an annual fee and must be kept up to date.
- No more than 5 toys can be borrowed at any one time. In order for all members to be able to have access to a range of items, only 2 gross motor items may be borrowed at a time.
- Toys are to be returned within 4 weeks from the date that they are borrowed unless the due date falls within the school holiday period. Then they must be returned as soon as possible after the holiday period. If you are unable to return toys by the due date then please call for an extension.
- Toys that are returned later than 3 months from the borrowing date will receive a late fee of $5 per item. eg) if a total of 5 toys have been borrowed for longer than 3 months a $25 late fee will apply.
- Toys that are on a Wait List should be returned on time. If you wish to have an extension, please call and if the toy is not on a wait list then the extension will be granted. We have had to apply this change so no one will be disappointed.
- It is the member’s responsibility to care for the toys in your home environment. It is recommended that toys only be used with your child/children in a supervised play setting. Once play is finished the toys are to be put away out of reach of the child so as to minimise lost pieces, drawn on toys and broken toys. We do understand our kids can be rough with the toys and that there is general wear and tear on toys but we still ask you as a member to take the best care you can of our toys.
- Due to the amount of lost pieces eventually rendering some toys useless we have to apply a charge for missing pieces. This cost is $1 per lost piece. If the piece is found and returned to the library then your money will be refunded. If the member accumulates a debt to the toy library of $10 or more in lost pieces, the member’s borrowing privileges will be suspended until the member has paid the amount to the toy library.
- If a missing piece renders the toy unusable (e.g. the board of a board game), the member will be asked to pay for a replacement item.
- A reminder letter/email will be sent out to members who have not returned toys on time or called to request an extension. Please note that only ONE letter/email will be sent to you. If the toy is not returned we will assume that you wish to purchase that item and may bill you for the full cost.
